Chelsea injury update: N’Golo Kante, Mason Mount and Raheem Sterling latest news and return dates

N’Golo Kante is ready to give Chelsea a huge boost on the club’s injury front.

With the midfielder preparing for a return against Everton, he is joined by Reece James in putting their names forward for some match action on the weekend.

However, Cesar Azpilicueta, Thiago Silva and Edouard Mendy are set to miss out. There are also question marks over Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Graham Potter has confirmed Raheem Sterling and Mason Mount are unavailable.

Here is your latest update of Chelsea injuries and return dates...

N’Golo Kante

Having last played in August, French midfield general Kante is making his case for an appearance in Chelsea’s squad this weekend. Potter has indicated that a bench role is most likely.

He confirmed: “[He has a] chance of being in the squad. It’s the first time, so it’s fantastic, great.”

Mason Mount

Potter has specified the abdominal issue Mount has been struggling with in recent weeks but hinted at a return after the international break.

The Chelsea boss said: “Mason has been struggling a little bit with his pubic bone. He wasn’t 100 per cent the last game. He is still not quite there, so he will miss the England camp as well.”

Raheem Sterling

After sitting out last week’s win at Leicester, Sterling will remain sidelined for the next couple of weeks with a hamstring injury.

Potter said: “Raheem has got a problem with his hamstring. It’s not too serious but he will miss the game at the weekend and he’ll miss the international trip.”

Reece James

Multiple injuries have hampered James this season with knee, hamstring and illness issues cropping up in recent weeks alone.

After being ruled out against Leicester due to feeling under weather, the right-back is back in training and could play against Everton.

Edouard Mendy

Goalkeeper Mendy is another eyeing a return to the squad this month following surgery on a broken finger.

Back in training, he was not ready to take up his spot on the bench at Leicester and appears unlikely to feature until after the international break, which he will miss afer not being named in Senegal’s squad.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

A back injury kept Aubameyang out of the squad last time out after Potter had handed the striker a bench role in the previous two Premier League games.

It remains to be seen if he will be fit to feature before the international break with competition for places incredibly high at Chelsea.

Thiago Silva

An initial six-week timeframe was placed on Silva’s return from a knee injury suffered away to Tottenham late last month.

The injury kept the veteran defender out of Brazil’s squad for a friendly against Morocco on March 25 but he could return for Chelsea when they get back in action, potentially starting with the April 1 visit of Aston Villa.

Cesar Azpilicueta

Azpilicueta has missed four games in a row since suffering a concussion in the defeat to Southampton almost a month ago.

Still absent from the squad against Leicester despite James’ absence, Potter has confirmed he will miss the game against Everton.

Armando Broja

Chelsea youngster Broja is focusing on getting himself fit for next season after undergoing surgery on a serious knee injury.

The blow was picked up in the mid-season friendly against Aston Villa during the World Cup, ruling him out for the rest of the campaign.
