Chelsea injury update: N’Golo Kante, Cesar Azpilicueta and Christian Pulisic return dates and latest newws

Graham Potter has described Chelsea’s injury crisis as “unprecedented” during a dreadful run for his team.

The former Brighton boss is under increasing pressure at Stamford Bridge amid growing calls to see him sacked from restless supporters.

Still, it’s hard to get away from the fact that the Blues’ injury list has not helped the situation. While there other concerns of course, the sheer amount of quality Potter has not been able to call on is vast.

Even with players back, the likes of Reece James, Thiago Silva and Hakim Ziyech had to be rested for the loss to Southampton, such has been their recent workload, with balance looking a real issue.

Here’s the latest on Chelsea injuries

The midfielder is back training on an individual basis but, such have been the length of his injury problems over the past year or so, it seems unlikely Chelsea will take any risks.

He joined his team-mates in the warm-up session before opening training on Tuesday.

Return date: March 2023

Chelsea’s skipper was forced off against Southampton with a nasty-looking head injury but has since provided a positive update as to his condition.

Christian Pulisic

Pulisic has been injured since the FA Cup loss at Manchester City last month but has since hinted he would be “back soon”.

Quite where he fits into the team at the moment, however, remains to be seen.

Return date: March 2023

Edouard Mendy

While Kepa has ousted Mendy as the club’s first-choice No.1 anyway, Mendy is still an important figure in the squad.

The 30-year-old underwent surgery on a fractured finger last month and was expected to miss around six weeks of action.

Return date: March 2023

Armando Broja

Blow: Broja will miss the rest of the season (Chelsea FC via Getty Images)

The striker, who had started to impress under Potter, suffered a long-term knee injury during a mid-season friendly in Abu Dhabi and will miss the rest of the season.

Return date: Summer 2023
