Chelsea hit by Sam Kerr injury as Emma Hayes forced into early change against Everton in WSL

Emma Hayes was forced into an early and unexpected change as Sam Kerr came off injured for Chelsea in the 30th minute against Everton.

Kerr, who is just the second player to score 10 or more goals in three consecutive WSL seasons but was forced off just half an hour into their clash at Kingsmeadow.

She came off just minutes after scoring the second goal of the match which saw Chelsea lead Everton 5-0 at half time.

Kerr was seen in the dugout straight away - and manager Hayes will be hoping it won't be too serious as they try and catch up to Manchester United and City in the Women's Super League.

Replays of the goal look to show Kerr twisting her ankle as she landed following the goal, and after treatment from the physio, she was able to walk off the pitch.

Pernille Harder replaced Kerr as Hayes refused to take any risks and it was a good decision as Harder made a spectacular return from injury to score the third goal before half-time.

This is a breaking news story and will be more to follow when updates when it develops.
