Chelsea have Khvicha Kvaratskhelia transfer advantage to beat Tottenham to Liverpool tormenter

Chelsea may well hold an advantage over their rivals if they are to try and sign Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

The 21-year-old has gotten off to a stunning start to life in Naples after a summer move from Dinamo Butami in his home country, Georgia. Having joined for just £9million, Kvaratskhelia's price will have already doubled, at least, since his move.

With six goals and four assists in 11 matches in all competitions and standout Champions League showings, the youngster has well and truly announced himself on the European stage in style. He is also sitting at the top of Serie A with his new club after a brilliant start to the campaign.

Kvaratskhelia scored and assisted in Napoli's 6-1 demolition of Ajax and also caught the eye in a stunning 4-1 win against Liverpool on the opening night of the group stage. With Chelsea looking for new attackers under Graham Potter, there would be no surprise if the Blues were to go in for the starlet.

Albeit from a very small sample size, Kvaratskhelia has adapted to every level and already has 10 goals in 19 matches for his country as well. Reports suggest that this form had attracted Leeds and Tottenham to the player, but both turned down a move and so he was free to join Luciano Spalletti in Italy.

The Premier League clubs may already be regretting their decision though, with the left-winger sure to generate much more interest now after his European performances. If Todd Boehly comes calling, Chelsea may be able to move ahead of the queue.

In an image from his youth, Kvaratskhelia is seen wearing a Chelsea shirt from 2006/07 season, at which point he would be around the age of seven of eight. At that time Chelsea were rocking one of the best attacks in world football with Joe Cole, Frank Lampard, Didier Drogba and Arjen Robben. If Kvaratskhelia was watching that team under Jose Mourinho then perhaps there is no surprise he donned the shirt.

The current attack couldn't be much further from that sort of quality, and Chelsea are looking to make drastic improvements and have a serious interest in fellow Serie A winger Raphael Leao at AC Milan. Kvaratskhelia has a lot to prove before the Blues would consider spending £127million on him, such is the release clause for Leao, but he may become a cheaper alternative in the future. If he keeps up his form and Potter can't revitalise the Chelsea forwards then he may well be putting a Chelsea shirt on again in the future.
