Ake talks at advanced stage
Chelsea are in advanced talks with Manchester City for the signing of Nathan Ake, football.london understand. The former Blues defender, who looks set to return to Stamford Bridge this summer, has been heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.
It's also understood that the Blues are prepared to bid £30million for the 27-year-old defender, but Pep Guardiola's side want £50million. Ake left Chelsea in 2017, joining Bournemouth for around £20million, before eventually join City for nearly twice as much.
Frenkie de Jong advantages
Chelsea have two major advantages over Manchester United in the race to sign Frenkie de Jong. The 25-year-old has been heavily linked with an exit from the Camp Nou this summer, with Barcelona eager to solve their financial woes.
football.london understands that the west Londoners have 'liked' the idea of signing the Netherlands international for a few years now. And, while Thomas Tuchel faces great competition from Erik ten Hag for the midfielder's services, the Blues boss is confident of wrapping up a deal.
According to Spanish outlet Diario Sport, the Chelsea entourage would be able to convince De Jong to snub Old Trafford for Stamford Bridge on two conditions. The report details that Champions League qualification and London lifestyle would be enough for the Dutchman to decide his future.
Cristiano Ronaldo hint grants Chelsea boost
Chelsea have been handed a huge boost in the race to sign Cristiano Ronaldo this summer, with the Manchester United striker still yet to return to training after requesting to leave the club. According to Fabrizio Romano, the 37-year-old will not be apart of Erik ten Hag's squad that travel to Bangkok to kickstart the Red Devils pre-season tour. United are said to have accepted Ronaldo's wish for additional time off to deal with a personal and family issue.
According to The Times, the Portugal international has asked the Red Devils to respect his decision to leave the club should they receive a 'satisfactory offer'. It's believed that Ronaldo's verdict is driven by his desire to play in the Champions League this season, with Erik ten Hag set to guide United into the Europa League.
The report adds that the five-time Ballon d'Or winner, who sees his contract at Old Trafford expire in just 12 months, has already been offered to Bayern Munich, but the German giants have baulked at the proposal. And, Chelsea are now favourites to swoop in.
