Former Premier League goalkeeper Shay Given says Chelsea's Edouard Mendy made a 'terrible mistake' to allow Leeds United's Brenden Aaronson to open the scoring against the Blues.
Mendy made a costly error in the 33rd minute which resulted in Leeds taking the lead against Chelsea at Elland Road. The Senegalese goalkeeper had the ball passed back to his feet by Kalidou Kouliably, and he spent too long pondering in possession.
The energetic Aaronson pressed Mendy, and when the goalkeeper tried dribbling around the American international, he stole the ball from him and walked it into an empty net. Mendy had more than enough opportunities to clear his lines, but he spent too long on the ball and the 21-year-old pounced on the error.

"He has a really poor first touch and his head’s a bit scrambled at that point," former Newcastle United and Manchester City stopper Given said on Sky Sports' Super Sunday coverage.
"Worse case, kick it out for a corner, just don’t do what you do. Reece James tells him to go long.
"The only thing I would say in his defence, not too many Chelsea players have run into a position to receive the ball. It’s a terrible mistake from Mendy. He’s totally disappointed with himself."
