Chelsea given Victor Osimhen guarantee as Luciano Spalletti drops clear £130m transfer hint

Luciano Spalletti has dropped an intriguing transfer hint regarding the future of Victor Osimhen. The 24-year-old striker has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League following his title-winning performances for Napoli.

He's featured 31 times for the Italian giants in the Serie A this season, scoring 25 goals. While Napoli are, understandably, desperate to hold onto Osimhen this summer, football.london understands that the Blues are considering a bid which could demand a record-breaking fee.

It's said that the west Londoners are in the market for a new striker, with Kai Havertz and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang failing to impress. Chelsea have struggled to replace Didier Drogba, and only Diego Costa or Olivier Giroud have managed to enjoy a percentage of his success.

So, the Nigeria international, who sees his contract at the Maradona Stadium expire in 2025, has been identified as somebody who can rejuvenate the Blues' frontline. However, reports from Italy suggest that Osimhen could cost as much as €150million (£130m).

Following Napoli's 2-2 draw with Bologna which saw the Nigerian net twice, Spalletti was quizzed on the goalscorer's future by DAZN. As quoted by Football Italia, the 64-year-old said: "When players start working in a certain way, you identify their characteristics and find paths to give them service.

"Osimhen is good in open spaces, in the air, with the ball passed to his feet. He will have an important future, no matter what team he plays in, and is above all a good lad too.

"His teammates love him, he helps them out and resolves situations rather than complains. He will become even more of a top player in future."

Then, on his own future, Spalletti remained coy – he too has been heavily linked with an exit from Napoli. The Italian added: "Many things remain. In order to build a campaign the way we did, you need all the components to participate.

"Even if the sentiment of the city and the fans is the thing that makes the difference in Naples, it motivates, it lifts you up when you are a little depressed. Just go out there and meet the people, you will realise it."
