Chelsea FC XI vs RB Salzburg: Starting lineup, confirmed team news, injury latest for Champions League today

Graham Potter appears to have opted for a back four for his debut as Chelsea boss against RB Salzburg tonight.

N’Golo Kante and Edouard Mendy are out of the Champions League clash, leaving 24 players to choose from for the Blues’ new manager.

For Kante, he has been out for a month with a hamstring injury and has been suffering a run of niggling injuries over the last few years.

Meanwhile, Mendy continues to battle a minor patellar tendon injury after missing his side’s defeat to Dinamo Zagreb.

Kepa Arrizabalaga continues in goal while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang also starts despite his struggles away in Croatia.

Cesar Azpilicueta and Thiago Silva start in what is an experienced pairing at the back, meaning Wesley Fofana and Kalidou Koulibaly have to settle for places on the bench. Marc Cucurella is reunited with his former Brighton boss and is in from the off as expected.

Mateo Kovacic, Jorginho and Mason Mount all start in midfield, in what is Chelsea’s last match before the international break.

Starting XI: Kepa; James, Azpilicueta, Thiago Silva, Cucurella; Kovacic, Jorginho, Mount; Havertz, Aubameyang, Sterling

Subs: Bettinelli, Pulisic, Loftus-Cheek, Chalobah, Broja, Zakaria, Chilwell, Ziyech, Gallagher, Koulibaly, Chukwuemeka, Fofana
