Chelsea fans make feelings clear vs Man City with Thomas Tuchel and Roman Abramovich chants

Chelsea supporters inside the Etihad Stadium for the FA Cup third round tie against Manchester City made their feelings towards the club at the moment perfectly clear by chanting the name of ex-manager Thomas Tuchel and former owner Roman Abramovich.

The Blues were facing Premier League champions Man City for the second time in four days and despite a promising display were beaten courtesy of a second half strike from Riyad Mahrez. The performance by Graham Potter's side may have instilled some confidence ahead of the FA Cup clash but that was very quickly wiped away by Pep Guardiola's side.

Chelsea were once again haunted by Mahrez after he struck a delightful free-kick past Kepa Arrizabalaga before Kai Havertz then bizarrely handled inside the penalty area from a City corner with a spot kick then converted by Julian Alvarez, with Chelsea fans insisting he should be sold in the summer.

Things went from bad to worse for the Blues before half-time, with a sweeping Man City move from left-to-right finished off by Foden to make it 3-0, with Mahrez adding another from the spot after a clumsy foul by Kalidou Koulibaly on Foden.

The Chelsea boss made a number of changes at half time and in the second 45 but they were to no effect, instead City looked like increasing their lead. A number of Chelsea fans in the away end soon made their discontent heard by chanting for Thomas Tuchel and Roman Abramovich despite both men having departed the club in 2022.

New co-owner Todd Boehly has led a major recruitment overhaul which has included the signing of 11 players after the January arrivals of Andrey Santos, Benoit Badiashile and David Datro Fofana, who made his Blues debut in the second half against City, were all confirmed.

The Blues are also hopeful of agreeing deals for either Marcus Thuram or Mykhaylo Mudryk in search of a new attacking option ahead of the expected arrival of Christopher Nkunku for the 2023/24 season.
