Chelsea eye midfielder loan swoop amid Yves Bissouma links after Moises Caicedo transfer bid rejected

Chelsea are increasingly open to signing a midfielder on loan after having a £55million bid for Moises Caicedo rejected by Brighton.

The Blues are poised to make winger Noni Madueke their latest signing and have agreed a £35m deal for the 20-year-old with PSV Eindhoven.

Graham Potter still wants to add a midfielder to his squad this month but Brighton do not want to sell Ecuador international Caicedo and Cheslea have been forced to consider other options.

Chelsea had a bid for Benfica’s Enzo Fernandez rejected earlier this month and they have been linked with a shock move for Tottenham’s Yves Bissouma, though Spurs are expected to reject any move for a player who worked with Potter at Brighton.

Madueke will become the 15th signing since Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital completed their takeover at Chelsea last year. He is a former Crystal Palace and Tottenham youth player who left Spurs for PSV in 2018 and has impressed in the Eredivisie.

Chelsea have already signed Mykhailo Mudryk, Benoit Badiashile, Joao Felix, David Datro Fofana and Andrey Santos so far this month.
