Guro Reiten’s brilliant curling finish earned Chelsea a crucial 1-0 away win at holders Lyon in the first leg of their Women’s Champions League quarter-final.
A moment of qualify from Reiten decided a tight encounter as the Blues secured an advantage going into the second leg at Stamford Bridge next week.
Chelsea had to dig in against Lyon in the second half but a solid defensive display saw them limit chances and frustrate the eight-time champions.
Emma Hayes’s side went ahead on 28 minutes when Erin Cuthbert nutmegged a Lyon player and, after a driving run, set up Reiten to curl the ball home.

Lauren James rattled the post shortly afterwards and the game opened up in the second half as Lyon pushed for an equaliser.
The hosts hit the post through Delphine Cascarino but Chelsea held on for a narrow win.
There will be concern for Chelsea over England centre-back Millie Bright, who went off injured in the first half.
