Chelsea drop hint over team selection ahead of Stamford Bridge Champions League clash with Lille

Chelsea take on Lille in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 clash on Tuesday night and the club may have dropped a team news hint ahead of kick-off.

The Blues qualified for the second round of the tournament after finishing second in Group H behind Juventus and will have been relieved to be drawn against the reigning French champions.

Bayern Munich and Real Madrid were among their potential opponents but it was Lille who Thomas Tuchel's side were drawn to face back in December.

Chelsea have been made overwhelming favourites to progress, with Lille sat in 11th place in Ligue 1 following significant changes since the end of last season, but Tuchel is taking nothing for granted.

"They were very, very competitive when I was in Paris. You could feel that it was a strong group, a strong squad, and a very emotional club," he told his pre-match press conference on Monday.

"It was difficult to play at their stadium. The quality of the bond between the players and the coach was exceptional. You could feel that they have a chance to fight constantly for a place in the Champions League.

"Last season they became champions which is huge in France. From there, they lost players and the coach so there's a huge change.

"If the change is so big then there's a possibility that it takes some time to settle in. But still, we all know how physical French football is, the offensive players are physical and fast.

"They are very brave in one-on-one challenges. They are always a threat on counter-attacks and disciplined against the ball. They have the chance to play this game as underdogs and have the mentality with nothing to lose and they will take it from there."

Ahead of kick-off, Chelsea posted a matchday graphic on Twitter, featuring four players and potentially hinting at who will be in the starting XI.

Thiago Silva, Antonio Rudiger, Edouard Mendy and the in-form Hakim Ziyech all featured. Could all four be chosen to start against the reigning French champions?
