Chelsea have completed the signing of Enzo Fernandez from Benfica for a club-record fee of £106.7million - a move that also smashes the record fee spent in the Premier League.
The move comes after an intense transfer saga that went right down to the wire after initial negotiations with the Portuguese club were unsuccessful. Late in the window talks were revived, with the Blues' board fully geared towards landing the 21-year-old before the deadline.
Co-owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbal appear to have been key players in the saga ending with one of the world's most promising youngsters moving to Stamford Bridge. The move helps strengthen a key area that has been neglected over recent seasons and needed fresh energy.

Given how late the process was gone through to sign the World Cup winner, there will have been concerns over whether the west London outfit got their man. Well yet another hint from the club should put fans at ease, even despite the lack of an announcement after the deadline.
The social media biographies of Chelsea include just two emojis at the moment, one of which being an Argentina flag and the other being a trophy. It clearly hints at the fact that Fernandez, who has recently won the World Cup with his nation Argentina, is set to be announced.
It remains to be seen when that will be, but it's no longer a case of if it will be revealed by the Blues at this stage, having finally landed their top target.
