Chelsea drop Arsenal team news hint as Frank Lampard considers selection change amid Mauricio Pochettino talks

After five successive defeats since taking over as caretaker manager, Frank Lampard is considering whether to freshen up the Chelsea team away at Arsenal.

Lampard is expected to remain in charge for the remainder of the season despite Chelsea closing in on the appointment of Mauricio Pochettino as their new head coach.

It has been reported that a deal for Pochettino could even be wrapped up by the end of the week, but in the short-term Lampard desperately needs to inject some life into what is becoming one of the most embarrassing seasons in modern history for Chelsea.

The Blues travel Emirates Stadium on Tuesday and have dropped a team news hint ahead of that game.

Teenagers Lewis Hall and Omari Hutchinson were left out of the Chelsea Under-21s squad for their final game of the Premier League 2 season against Brighton on Friday night.

Hall and Hutchinson have played key roles for the Under-21s this season and their omission has sparked talk they could be in the first-team squad for the Arsenal game.

Full-back Hall, 18, has made seven senior appearances this season, including four Premier League starts.

Forward Hutchinson, who joined Chelsea from Arsenal last summer, has made two substitute appearances, both against Manchester City in the Premier League and FA Cup.

Speaking ahead of Wednesday’s 2-0 defeat to Brentford, Lampard suggested Mykhailo Mudryk, Noni Madueke and Carney Chukwuemeka would be given a chance soon.

Explaining why players would be given a chance, Lampard said: "If they deserve it, for sure. There are two things. There’s the individual work, showing you deserve it. I’m fully for that.”
