Chelsea have delivered an update on five players who have faced spells in the treatment room over recent weeks. Graham Potter was forced to be without this quintet for Tuesday’s crucial Champions League victory against Borussia Dortmund, but could have some more options available to him this weekend.
Firstly, the club has said this weekend could come too soon for the long-awaited return of N’Golo Kante. They claimed he “may not quite be ready to feature against his former club”, after suffering a hamstring injury against Tottenham.
He is yet to play under Potter, but has recently returned to first-team training and was spotted during Thursday’s pre-match session. Elsewhere Armando Broja and Thiago Silva are definitely sidelined with their respective knee injuries.

Silva is expected to remain absent until April with a six-week recovery period while Broja’s season is seemingly over after learning he needs surgery to fix a ruptured cruciate ligament. However, Edouard Mendy is “making progress” in his recovery, and could be back sooner following an operation on a fractured finger.
The final absentee to receive an update is Cesar Azpilicueta. The club say he could have recovered from concussion in time to face Leicester after leaving the pitch on a stretcher in the loss to Southampton.
Elsewhere, Mason Mount is back in contention after missing the Champions League win through suspension. This is despite a recent lower abdomen issue which kept him out of the side that beat Leeds United last weekend, returning to training on Thursday to prepare for the Leicester City clash.
Ineligible players for the Champions League, such as Benoit Badiashile, David Fofana and Noni Madueke will all be pressing for minutes, while Mykhailo Mudryk will also hope to be involved after being limited to the role of an unused substitute for both of Chelsea's recent victories.
