Chelsea dealt huge injury blow as Estevao latest revealed

Estevao’s World Cup hopes are in serious doubt after suffering a grade four hamstring injury during Chelsea’s defeat to Manchester United last weekend.

The Brazilian winger is expected to miss the rest of the Blues’ season and is now highly likely to miss this summer’s World Cup in the USA, Mexico and Canada.

Estevao limped off in the 16th minute of Chelsea’s 1-0 loss against United and underwent a scan on Monday afternoon to determine the severity of his injury.

The teenager, who signed from Brazilian side Palmeiras in May 2024, has enjoyed a successful debut season in west London after joining last summer, producing eight goals and four assists in all competitions, as well as cementing himself as a regular starter for Brazil.

He has earned 11 caps for Brazil and has scored four goals in his last four games for Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

His injury comes as a massive blow, too, for Chelsea, with the 18-year-old a bright spot in what has been a difficult season for the Blues, who are weighing up whether to sack manager Liam Rosenior.

Rosenior’s side have lost seven of their last eight games in all competitions, and dropped to seventh in the Premier League table after their 3-0 defeat away to Brighton.

Following the humbling at Brighton, Chelsea have four league games remaining and take on Leeds in the FA Cup semi-finals this weekend.

Brazil, meanwhile, start their World Cup campaign against Morocco on June 13 before taking on Haiti and Scotland.
