Chelsea dealt double injury blow ahead of Arsenal clash as Liam Rosenior issues Estevao update

Liam Rosenior has delivered an update on Estevao ahead of Chelsea’s Premier League clash against Arsenal.

The teenager missed last weekend’s 1-1 draw with Burnley at Stamford Bridge after suffering a hamstring injury in the days leading up.

It meant that he was absent from training as Chelsea prepared for that game, and he has not been pictured in any training sessions on any of the club’s official channels since.

The 18-year-old had scans on the hamstring issue shortly after the Burnley match.

On Friday, Rosenior was asked whether Estevao could be in the frame to return in time for the crucial game against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon and confirmed a major blow.

He said: “Unfortunately, Estevao will be out for a little longer.”

Marc Cucurella has also been out with a hamstring injury, which forced him off at half-time of the 2-2 draw with Leeds earlier this month. He has not played since and will not return against Gunners despite making good progress.

Rosenior said of his situation: "Cucurella is progressing really well. He's not available for Sunday but hopefully we get him back soon."

There is some good news for Chelsea as Rosenior has revealed Reece James is fully fit and that Romeo Lavia came through a practice match in the week unscathed as he build up his fitness.

“Reece is absolutely fine,” Rosenior added. “Romeo is getting stronger and stronger.

“We had a mini practice match in the week which he looked good in.”
