Chelsea confirm multiple exits as four more follow Antonio Rudiger out of Stamford Bridge ahead of rebuild

Chelsea have announced the departures of another four first-team men’s players.

Antonio Rudiger’s move to Real Madrid on a free transfer had already been confirmed after the German international rejected the chance to become the highest-paid defender in the club’s history.

It was also confirmed that Saul Niguez would return to Atletico Madrid after a miserable loan spell at Stamford Bridge.

On Friday, Chelsea revealed more departures.

Andreas Christensen is perhaps the headline name although his move to Barcelona is yet to be sealed amid more financial turmoil a the La Liga giants.

Thomas Tuchel revealed last month the Danish international had pulled out of the FA Cup final loss to Liverpool on the morning of the game and he did not feature in their final two Premier League outings.

Danny Drinkwater’s exit has also been confirmed after a torrid time of things following a £35m move from Leicester City in the summer of 2017. The midfielder played only 23 times for Chelsea and wrote an apology to supporters in May for how his time in west London had panned out.

Also leaving Stamford Bridge are Charly Musonda and Jake Clarke-Salter, who made only 9 first-team appearances between them.

Tuchel is keen on a number of attacking signings this summer, including Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling and Chelsea have been offered teammate Gabriel Jesus already in what is expected to be a busy summer transfer window.

New owner Todd Boehly will personally oversee the club’s recruitment drive this summer after agreeing with Tuchel a rebuild is needed and up to £200m could be made available.
