Chelsea confirm Joao Felix return on long-term contract

Chelsea have confirmed the return of Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid as their busy summer of transfer activity continues.

The Blues have handed the forward a six-year contract with the option of an added 12 months beyond that, bringing Felix back to Stamford Bridge following a loan spell during the 2022-23 campaign.

Conor Gallagher will join the LaLiga giants in a separate deal, having initially seen his move to the Spanish capital delayed after Chelsea’s attempts to sign Samu Omorodion from Atletico collapsed.

Felix scored four goals in 20 appearances during his first spell in west London before spending last season on loan at Barcelona, during which he scored ten times in 44 appearances.

The deal represents the tenth signing Chelsea have made this summer, albeit Brazilian prodigy Estevao Willian will not join the club until next year.

Felix could make his second debut for the club at Wolves this weekend.
