Chelsea have confirmed an agreement to sign Molde striker David Fofana ahead of their Premier League meeting with Nottingham Forest on New Year's Day (4:30pm),
The Reds will host Graham Potter's side on the back of a 3-0 defeat to Manchester United this week, while the Blues returned to winning ways against Bournemouth. Owner Todd Boehly has kept to his promise to back Potter in the transfer window with Fofana becoming his first signing of the winter.
The Ivorian forward has scored 15 goals and assisted five times for Molde so far this season, and his move to Stamford Bridge is set to be completed in the next few days. The 20-year-old, who completed medical tests last week, is set to replace Armando Broja after he suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury during a friendly against Aston Villa.

Chelsea released a statement confirming the signing of Fofana on their official website. The statement read: "Chelsea FC has reached a pre-agreement with Molde FK for the transfer of David Datro Fofana. The 20-year-old striker will join the Blues on 1 January 2023. We look forward to welcoming David to the club!"
The club is not set to stop there, with Reece James' latest injury setback meaning Boehly could accelerate his plans to find a suitable back-up option.
