Chelsea: Christian Pulisic excited for ‘fresh start’ under Graham Potter in potential U-turn on future

Christian Pulisic believes Graham Potter’s appointment at Chelsea offers a real chance to establish himself.

The American international was the subject of interest from Manchester United over the course of the summer transfer window and had been open to an exit.

Life under Thomas Tuchel had become something of a strain for the 24-year-old, who was eager to guarantee as much first-team football as possible before leading his country into 2022 World Cup.

Last season, Pulisic made only 13 Premier League starts and the player recently admitted to having been “dumfounded” by Tuchel’s decision to drop him during Chelsea’s Champions League-winning campaign in 2021.

The former Borussia Dortmund forward scored in a 1-1 draw with Real Madrid in the first leg of their semi-final clash but was dropped for the return fixture, although he later came on to set-up Mason Mount’s winning goal.

Having grown unhappy at Stamford Bridge under the previous regime, Pulisic hinted at a potential U-turn while away on international duty.

Speaking to ESPN, the forward said: “I’m feeling good going back, honestly. I have a fresh start now, and I’m excited to play for the new manager.

"So really just looking forward to it. I just have to prove myself, as everyone does, and as I’ve done before.”
