Atletico Madrid star Joao Felix could be set to leave the club in the January transfer window. Chelsea and Arsenal have both been linked with making a move for the Portuguese forward as they aim to strengthen their attacking options in the new year.
football.london reported earlier this year that Felix was a transfer target for the Gunners, but a move failed to materialise with Gabriel Jesus completing a £45million move to the Emirates Stadium in the summer instead. Atletico CEO, Gil Martin, has admitted that the club will consider selling the 23-year-old after he told TVE: "Joao Felix is the biggest bet the club has made this season, I think he has the highest level in the world but for reasons that are not worth entering now, the relationship between [Diego] Simeone and him is not good and his motivation is not the best."
Former Blues midfielder Joe Cole and Graeme Souness both agreed that more attack-minded teams would suit Felix's qualities much more than Atletico. Chelsea hold a higher financial advantage over their London rivals but both Premier League clubs could look to make a move for the Portugal international when the January transfer window opens.
