Emerson Palmieri has agreed to join West Ham United from Chelsea in a deal that could reach £15million – and the Italian's departure will not be the last of the summer transfer window as new co-owner, and interim sporting director Todd Boehly attempts to reshape the first-team squad for Thomas Tuchel.
Talks between Chelsea and the Irons over a permanent deal for Emerson accelerated last week, but the Italian international's initial salary demands put a switch to the London Stadium at risk. However, after a brief pause in discussions last Thursday, an agreement has been reached between the defender and West Ham.
Emerson is understood to be undergoing the first part of his medical today. The second is expected to take place tomorrow ahead of the 28-year-old's move to East London being confirmed. Chelsea will receive a guaranteed £13m for the full-back with a further £2m in add-ons.
