Chelsea 8-0 FC Noah: Joao Felix and Christopher Nkunku hit braces as Blues run riot in Conference League

Chelsea put Armenian minnows FC Noah to the sword in an 8-0 hammering at Stamford Bridge in the Conference League.

The Blues were four goals up with barely 20 minutes on the clock, six to the good by half-time, and a brace from Christopher Nkunku after the break capped the easiest of nights for Enzo Maresca’s side.

By that point Noah had long since been beaten. The visitors conceded twice in the space of 84 seconds in the first-half, as Tosin Adarabioyo headed home from a corner and Marc Guiu then pounced on a terrible pass almost straight from kick-off.

Axel Disasi ensured Noah were again punished from a set-piece, before Joao Felix dinked a lovely finish into the back of the net and Mykhailo Mudryk curled home the pick of the bench, into the top corner from the edge of the area. There was still time for Felix to add a second before the break.

Noah kept Chelsea at bay for 24 minutes after the restart, but Nkunku finally got his goal, volleying into the empty net having had his initial effort saved. The Frenchman was then called upon shortly after to hammer a penalty down middle, after a generous VAR decision.

The crowd called for double figures but Chelsea could not find a ninth or tenth, cruising to the final whistle as the attention now turns to Sunday’s big Premier League showdown against Arsenal in west London.

The likes of Nkunku and Mudryk are likely to drop out of the side again, despite their goals, but Felix could earn a rare Premier League start if Cole Palmer does not overcome his injury concern.
