Chef left paralysed after diner shot him four times for 'undercooking his kebab'

A chef has been left paralysed after an angry customer shot him four times for reportedly not cooking his kebab to his standards in Italy.

Federico Pecorale, 29, was arrested after he shot 23-year-old Yelfri Guzman at the Casa Rusti restaurant in a busy square in Pescara in April 2022.

The crazed customer has now been jailed for seven years, it has been reported.

Horrifying CCTV footage shows the moment the 23-year-old falls to the floor. The burly gunman continues to shoot him in front of his terrified female colleague before finally turning around and walking away.

Local media reported on June 22 that court proceedings ended with Judge Francesco Marino sentencing him to seven years in prison and five years in a psychiatric facility.

The court revealed that after the shooting, Pecorale left the kebab shop and headed back to his hotel in the square to grab his luggage before he fled the city.

It has now been revealed he fled to his grandparents’ home initially and then fled once again igniting a manhunt involving city police from across the region.

La Repubblica reported at the time that Percorale was ‘calm and stern’ when approached by police, who found an automatic pistol on him.

Some media reports say he shot him because his order took too long to be prepared, but Pescara Court heard that he fired at him because the chef allegedly undercooked his lamb kebab.

Pecorale's lawyer, Florenzo Coletti, told local media at the time of the shooting that his client carried the automatic pistol with him as people routinely "mock" his incompetence.

Pecorale suffered from serious brain injuries after being involved in a car accident when he was 19, which has since affected his cognitive abilities, La Repubblica reported.

A mental health evaluation concluded that the defendant’s capacity to understand and make decisions was partially diminished but not wholly.

Pecorale, from Montesilvano in the Abruzzo region, was also ordered the pay the victim €200,000 (£171,000).
