BENGALURU: Thanks to easing of the Covid situation and a harsh summer, beer consumption in Karnataka is on the rise with the first financial quarter of 2022-23 reporting a 130% increase in sales over like period last year. However, the sale of Indian-Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) saw a marginal rise.
The big jump in consumption is also due to the low-base effect since harsher Covid curbs were in place during the 2021 April-June period when a brutal second wave of Covid was at its peak.
