A chef was in for a rude awakening when he awoke to discover his French bulldog sleeping with her crotch on his face - only for his mischievous girlfriend to capture snaps of the predicament. Tom Wilkie was fast asleep in bed last month when puppy Darling decided to join him for a snooze, snuggling up on her owner's pillow and resting her nether regions on his face.
The 34-year-old's partner Laura Bennett, 30, came home from the school run to find Tom conked out on his side and blissfully unaware that he had the 20-week-old pooch spread eagle on his head. In stitches, Laura whipped out her phone to capture the hilarious sight and even managed to snap the exact moment Tom awoke to realise he had Darling's bottom millimetres from his eyes.
The funny shots show Tom enjoying his slumber then his eyes suddenly ping open and glance up at the dog's precariously placed behind with a bewildered look on his face.
While not the most pleasant way to wake up, Tom could only laugh after seeing the pictures taken by mum-of-two Laura and the family haven't stopped giggling about it since.
Laura, of Wythenshawe, Manchester, said: "I came into the bedroom after doing the school run and I could just see this bottom in the air. Darling sleeps in with me and Tom most nights but while I was out she obviously moved to sleep on top of his head.
"I got my phone out straight away to take photos. Tom must've heard the click of the camera because he opened his eyes. Seeing his face, I was howling. I was in stitches with tears streaming down my face.
"I think he was confused at first. I don't think he realised it was Darling, he could just feel this warm thing on his face. When I showed him the photos, he was laughing so much. He couldn't not find it funny. He's a big softie and loves her to pieces. She's too cute to be annoyed at.
"We've all just been laughing our heads off about it. She must have been like that for at least an hour. They're such funny dogs, they're huge characters."
The photos of Darling on Tom's face have also been a hit on social media who all agreed Laura's partner had a lucky escape. Despite her disregard for personal space, Darling has been the perfect addition to Laura and Tom's family.
The mum, who has six-year-old twin daughters Bonnie and Blossom Lofthouse, said the pup has all of them wrapped around her little finger.
Laura said: "Darling fits in perfectly with our family, she's settling in so well. The girls absolutely love her, we all do. She's the little boss. She's got us all wrapped around her little finger. She loves all the attention she gets and she's so well behaved. I would recommend the breed to anyone. They're such lovely dogs. There's never a dull day with Darling. She is definitely a very loved and gorgeous addition to the family."
