Cheapest place to buy Quality Street this week as Sainsbury's, Morrisons, Tesco and Asda ditch deals

If you've not stocked up on your festive chocolates, now is the time to get them bought and placed in the pantry ready for the Christmas period. Many supermarkets appear to have ditched their two for £7 or reduced price deals, with some even being out of stock online.

With less than three weeks until the big day, you'll have to be quick to get your hands on a box to avoid disappointment from festive visitors looking for a sweet treat to accompany a Christmas tipple.

A fortnight ago, on November 23, we saw the most supermarkets offering deals on the bumper box of confectionary. But Sainsbury's, Morrisons, Tesco and Asda have all ditched their deals. In fact, Tesco was previously selling tubs at £4, with the price having risen to a fiver this week.

Money is tighter than ever for many Brits this year, so we’ve been keeping a close eye on supermarket prices since September, particularly on family festive chocolate boxes like Quality Street, Heroes, Celebrations and Roses, in the run up to Christmas to help you get the best deal.

Big shiny offers and discounts may make you feel as though you're getting the best price, but that's not always the case.

Stores have held a number of deals like Tesco’s two for £7, three cartons for £5 and rollback prices, but these have chopped and changed throughout October, with prices fluctuating up and down.

For example, Iceland were selling 600g boxes for £4.50 each, down from £5, but they're now on two for £8 saving £2 based on buying two boxes. Ocado previously sold a huge 2kg box of Heroes for the reduced price of £16.50, but sadly it's back up to £23.

This week, however, there's only one retailer undeniably offering the best deal with their boxes of Quality Street and Celebrations reduced to £3.49: Aldi. The German supermarket is only stocking these two variety boxes, so no Heroes or Roses, but it's the cheapest price we've seen, undercutting £3.50 offers by 1p.

At Tesco, their 600g boxes of Quality Street were down from £4 to £3.50 for Clubcard holders two weeks ago - but now, they've been hiked to £5, making them one of the most expensive places to buy this week, instead of the cheapest at the end of last month. They have launched some new deals on smaller quantities though, with reduced prices from Clubcard members.

Sainsbury’s have also ditched their deals on 600g boxes of Quality Street, Heroes and Roses, as well as the 650g box of Celebrations. They were previously down from £5 to £3.50, but are now back up to full price with no current reductions on any size cartons or boxes.

Morrisons have scrapped their £4 boxes, putting the price of 600g and 650g boxes back up to £4.99. However, you can get smaller boxes cut from £4 to £3.50, or from £3 to £2, helping keep costs low for shoppers looking to add Christmas treats to their trolley.

Prices have also reverted at Asda, who have removed the 2 for £7 deal on 600g boxes, and 650g of Celebrations.. Although, 382g of Quality Street, 357g of Heroes and 370g of Celebrations are all down to £3 from £3.50.

B&M haven't once reduced the price of their festive chocolates, costing £3 for 450g of Quality Street and £8.99 for 900g of Heroes. A box of Celebrations comes in at a fiver, while 900g of Roses is also £8.99.

Elsewhere, Iceland are actually sold out of Quality Street, but their 650g boxes of Celebrations are now £5 or two for £8. The smaller Quality Street cartons remain on a three for £5 offer. And at Ocado, new deals see a 357g tin of Heroes down to £5 from £6.30, £1 cut from the price of 290g of Heores, making them £3, and an 800g tin of Roses reduced by £3, taking the cost to £9.

So this week, Aldi is by far the cheapest place to pick up your Quality Street, undercutting some competitors by more than £1.50.

Manchester Evening News will be checking back on supermarket deals on Christmas chocolate to help you get the best price in the run up to December, so you always know you’re getting the best price.
