As the cost-of-living crisis puts a pinch on people’s pockets still, many are looking for a cheap holiday to get some time abroad without breaking the bank.
New research, conducted by holiday experts at Jersey Island Holidays, has revealed the most affordable destination for a couple’s getaway in Europe for flights, accommodation and food.
According to the experts, Podgorica, the capital city of Montenegro, is the most affordable spot in Europe to go for a break, with the average cost for a two-day holiday for two people, including flights and meals, in the city being approximately £222 (€250).

The experts revealed that return flights come in at just £89 (€100), a taxi for two days costs only £5 (€5.60) and a three-course meal costs only £22 (€25), Express.co.uk reports.
Travel blog Wander-lush recommended visiting the "underrated nation". According to experts at the site, if they "had to choose the most beautiful place in Montenegro overall, it would be the harbour town of Perast".
Travel guide, Lonely Planet, said that the city is well worth a visit due to its "vibrant cafe culture" among other reasons.
"Its streets are a hotchpotch of Ottoman oddments, Austrian shopfronts, brutalist blocks and shiny new malls, and it has a fraction of the big-smoke buzz other European capitals can claim," the travel guide explained.
The study also revealed some other budget-friendly European cities such as Skopje, in North Macedonia, where the average cost for a getaway for two is £274 (€308).
Landing in at the third spot on the list was Debrecen, in Hungary, with an average total of £304 (€342) for a getaway for two people.
