Every so often when changing the bedsheet you may notice the yellow stains on the pillow.
These can be caused by a variety of things, including sweat and saliva, and with rising temperatures recently sleepers will be sweating more during the night.
However, one cleaning guru has revealed that using a simple kitchen ingredient can help lift odours and stains from your pillows, reports the Mirror.
Jessica Hanley, founder of Piglet in Bed, said baking soda can be used to freshen pillows and help to get rid of both yellow stains and unpleasant odours and should be added to your washing machine when you wash your pillows.

The expert revealed that pillows should be washed three or four times a year but in the summer months, you should freshen your pillows in between washes by sprinkling baking soda on them.
"Bicarbonate of soda is great for absorbing moisture and reduces odours, which makes it perfect for sweaty pillows," Jessica said, "All you need to do is sprinkle an even amount across your pillows and leave to sit for a couple of hours.
"After waiting, use a handheld hoover with a small nozzle to hoover your pillow clean, making sure to remove all bicarb residue."
Protectors can also be used to ensure that pillows aren't stained and are easily washed.
