Aberdeen boss Barry Robson hopes key midfielder Ylber Ramadani wasn't saying his goodbyes to the club after he threw his kit into the support after their pre-season win in London.
Aberdeen eased to a three-goal lead at The Valley before the hosts pulled a couple of goals back which flattered Charlton.
Albanian international Ramadani was an important player for Aberdeen last season, but there have been persistent reports of interest from Serie A side Lecce.
They have yet to make their move, but Ramadani - who was an unused sub yesterday - appeared to be saying his cheerio to the club when he threw most of his strip into the 1,600-strong away support.
But Robson hopes that's not the case.
He said: "There is always a lot of speculation around a lot of our players
"Until anything happens – and nothing is happening right now – you can say that about a lot of players.
"I was just glad the fans were watching a team today that was fast and aggressive and really wanted to run for their club.
"I will let you know when anything is happening with Ramadani. All right?
"He’s a flying machine and we just rested him up again today. He will be good to go against Livingston next week."
But the Pittodrie boss was pleased with his side's performance, with goals from Graeme Shinnie, Bojan Miovski and an own goal, with Miovski also missing a penalty.
Aberdeen are expected to complete the signing of Serbian defender Slobodan Rubezic this week too.
Robson said: "We were up against a good side who have some top players and a big budget.
"It was everything we were looking for really.
"You see the way we want to play. We’ve worked hard and we look sharp and at it.
"We still have a few players to come in and give us a hand too.
"It’s quite evident we look sharp and know exactly what we are doing and how we want to play.
"We have got some young players in and hopefully we will add a few more.
"The window doesn’t shut till the end of the month but you never know we might have someone in next week."
Aberdeen were gifted a dream start in the third minute when 18-year-old Charlton defender Nathan Asiimwe headed a cross from American midfielder Dante Polvara into his own goal under little pressure from Graeme Shinnie.
The Pittodrie side very nearly doubled their advantage ten minutes later when fit-again North Macedonian striker Miovski stabbed a cross from Johnny Hayes just over the bar.
Miovski then blew a great chance when clean through on goal when he was thwarted by a fine reaction save by former Ross County keeper Ashley Maynard-Brewer.
And the Dons did double their advantage midway through the first half when Duk showed the form he was renowned for last season when he ghosted past defender Lucas Ness and delivered a fantastic cross on a plate to Shinnie, who converted from close range.
But they wasted a glorious chance to make it three in the 29th minute after former Aberdeen defender Michael Hector tripped Miovski in the box. However, the Dons' joint top scorer from last season hit the post from the resulting penalty.
Miovski quickly made amends though when he poked in a cross from Shayden Morris from the right to put the Scots three goals up in the 33rd minute.
The striker could easily have had a hat-trick and clipped another fine pass from Duk inches wide just before the break.
An injury to young central defender Jack Milne saw a rare appearance for deposed former Dons skipper Anthony Stewart.
New Aberdeen signing Or Dadia was denied a debut goal moments after he came on by a fine save from Maynard-Brewer when he met a cross at the far post.
The hosts grabbed a consolation goal in the 69th minute when Corey Blackett-Taylor fired home from close range.
And they added another one in the final minute when Nicky Devlin turned in a shot from Daniel Kanu while trying to keep the shot out.
