Charlotte Trippier has given a defiant response to Newcastle's defeat at Wembley as she returned to the stadium on Monday, in the aftermath of the Carabao Cup final.
Wife of United captain Kieran, Charlotte has been a constant presence at St James' Park this season, as she and various family members and friends have cheered on the England star from the stands. She was there to see the Magpies bag a trip to Wembley, with their 2-1 win over Southampton at the start of February and led the convoy of Newcastle WAGs who headed down to London by train on Friday.
Charlotte then took her seat in a very plush looking executive box inside Wembley for Sunday's big game, giving her growing number of Instagram followers a look at the immense atmosphere created by Wor Flags and Newcastle fans inside the world famous stadium, with the sea of black and white in the Toon end demanding all the attention before kick off.
She was blown away by the scenes, sharing one clip of the flags and captioning it: 'You guys," along with black and white heart emojis.
Charlotte returned to Wembley Way and to Instagram on Monday morning, posting a photo of her holding a coffee cup in front of the stadium in the background and writing something that will strike a chord with Newcastle fans everywhere - 'See ya next time.'
Giving the turnaround of fortunes, NUFC has had since the club takeover and appointment of Eddie Howe, the general consensus amongst supporters is that Sunday's final was just the start, as they look to get back to good form in the league and secure a place in Europe for next season.
Just like Charlotte, other half Kieran was struck by the level of support from the Newcastle fans on Sunday and, taking to Instagram after the game, the skipper wrote: "I thought we gave everything today, unfortunately it wasn’t enough. Congrats to Manchester Utd. On a personal note, @nufc fans you was absolutely incredible today, we will come again. Thank you"
And returning to Instagram later on Monday, to share a photo of herself and Kieran at Wembley,. Charlotte commented: So proud of Captain Tripps and the team. Gutted as they gave it their all but it just wasn’t meant to be our turn yet. The team will for sure be back next time. A massive shout out to all the fans. You guys are truly amazing and so supportive. Thanks for all the kind words and messages everyone."
