Charlotte Dawson says Jon Culshaw's 'uncanny' performance as late dad Les was 'emotional'

One good gurn deserves another as comedy star Jon Culshaw mimics Les Dawson – and Les’ daughter Charlotte joins in.

The pair posed at a theatre during Jon’s stint starring as Les in a play about his life. TV star Charlotte, 30, said the portrayal was “uncanny”. Les’ widow Tracy, 71, was also in attendance in Lytham St Annes, Lancs.

Charlotte said 54-year-old Jon’s performance in Flying High made her and mum Tracy “very emotional”, and they were “blown away”.

Comedian Les died of a heart attack in 1993 aged 62. Charlotte was just eight months old when her dad died.

Les was at a routine hospital appointment in Manchester when he died suddenly from a heart attack at the age of 62 – with second wife Tracy bringing Charlotte up alone.

Charlotte has discussed her grief and heartache over the loss of her comedian father on a number of occasions.

Recently, the reality star said her dad had been 'sending signs' after she suffered a devastating miscarriage in April this year.

Recalling a 'strange' encounter in August, she said: “Something weird happened to me. I was at home and I looked outside, and there was a pink balloon which just fell onto our balcony.

“It said the word ‘Princess’ on it. I felt freaked out. I really want a girl. I don’t know whether it could be a sign saying our baby was a little girl, or maybe we have a girl on the way.

“I feel like it was a message from my dad. I feel like he’s been with me throughout all of this,” she added to OK! magazine.

Charlotte goes to see her dad's statue in Lytham St Annes in Blackpool each Christmas.

Last year, she took her baby son Noah to see her dad's statue and wrote a touching message to the comedian as she posted photos on her Instagram page.

The caption read: “Wouldn’t be Christmas without going to see you dad..

“Noah’s first time seeing you on Christmas Day, can’t wait for him to get to know his amazing grandad les.. who would of adored him so much.

“Oh we would of had the best time with you here, life just isn’t the same without you here..“ Followed by a broken heart emoji.

The mum then ended the caption with: “I know your protecting us & guiding us everyday,“ alongside a red heart emoji.

Since becoming a mum Charlotte has said she feels closer to her late dad, as she previously explained: “I think he was definitely in that labour room with me. I really feel he was helping me through it all.

“I honestly do just feel him all around us. I know he’s always there and is watching over us and looking out for us all the time.

“Noah has the same star sign as my dad and he was born exactly a week before dad’s birthday.“

Charlotte shares her son Noah, who will be two in January, with her fiancé Matt Sarsfield.
