Charlie Nicholas turns Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou super agent with Steven Gerrard 'wrong' Rangers choice reminder

Confident Charlie Nicholas insists Ange Postecoglou wouldn't be tempted to join Leicester City - as he is on course for a top European club.

Ahead of Roberto De Zerbi's appointment as Brighton boss the Australian was heavily linked with a move to succeed Graham Potter at the Amex, and has now been touted south of the border as a potential replacement for Brendan Rodgers should he be axed at Leicester City with the Foxes sitting rock bottom of the table after a disappointing start to the season.

However, Nicholas doesn't see any reason the Parkhead boss would follow the pathway of Rodgers when he left the Scottish Premiership champions, with a title fight and Champions League football on the cards for Celtic this season. Former Hoops forward reckons that Postecoglou will have learned lessons from Steven Gerrard's move to Aston Villa - insisting the former Rangers gaffer made the wrong move when left Ibrox last term.

Writing in his Scottish Daily Express column, Nicholas said: "Ange Postecoglou won't be interested in the job at Leicester City if it becomes available - but he will, eventually, leave Celtic for a top European club. The English Premier League is attractive but there are times to make that move and Steven Gerrard made the wrong choice last term to go to Aston Villa.

"Ange, above, won't make that mistake as he can see what happens down south and will wait until the right opportunity comes along. He seems to be enjoying where he is and wants to achieve more at Celtic.

"But, if he continues to bring success, it will lead to offers and I get the feeling he'd rather work on the continent than in England. Brendan Rodgers couldn't wait to leave Celtic after a fall-out with Peter Lawwell. Now he's under pressure and Leicester don't look like a great option at present."
