Unimpressed pundit Charlie Nicholas has told Alfredo Morelos time is up because he reckons fellow pros know the Rangers striker cannot run.
The Colombian forward's weight has come under scrutiny and it is claimed Celtic star Greg Taylor branded him 'fatboy' during Monday's pulsating 2-2 draw at Ibrox. And Nicholas has urged Rangers boss Michael Beale now is the time to cut ties with a player who is free to talk to other clubs. The 24-year-old was unable to add to his meagre total of five goals in 24 games this season against the Premiership champions.
Speaking in his Express column, Nicholas said: "I believe he (Beale) must get rid of Alfredo Morelos. While Beale can claim it is his natural shape, the Colombian striker just looked out of shape in the draw. We saw Celtic left-back Greg Taylor lying on the deck before he was taken off appearing to call him something along the lines of 'fat boy'.
"Fellow pro footballers know he can't run. He might have had two headed chances from bad defensive play, but he was never a threat with his movement. I couldn't believe Beale didn't bring on Antonio Colak."
And Nicholas admits he wasn't impressed with what he witnessed in the green corner when it came to the efforts of Josip Juranovic. The World Cup star with Croatia endured a torrid day after he replaced Greg Taylor at left-back. Some onlookers pointed to his fitness level and unfamiliar role, however, The 61-year-old reckons a flare-up within the dressing room is a distinct possibility due to the Chelsea and Atletico Madrid target's nightmare on the pitch.
He added: "I don't know what happened with World Cup star Josip Juranovic not starting on the right and then coming on for Taylor on the opposite flank. Maybe he had a bust-up with Ange Postecoglou but he had an absolute shocker.
"Left-back shouldn't have been a problem as he's played there many times before. Given he wasn't picked to start, Juranovic might be thinking Celtic are looking to sell him and this could be one of his last games. That's certainly the way it appeared. He's a player that I rate, but I've never seen him that poor before. And that was what created the spark for Rangers with Fashion Sakala's pace down that side. Rangers went 2-1 up and had control."
