Charlie Nicholas brands Hibs a 'pantomime' as Celtic hero points finger at club amid Lee Johnson no chance claim

Brutal Charlie Nicholas has blasted Hibs as becoming a ‘pantomime’ club after recent results have seen a shocking run of form building.

The Hibees have slumped to eighth in the Scottish Premiership table with a damning stat that Lee Johnson’s men have suffered eight defeats in the previous ten games, with a statement 4-0 win over Livingston last weekend cancelled out by derby defeat to Hearts.

It was convincing for Robbie Neilson’s men at Tynecastle when Lawrence Shankland hit a double and Stephen Humphrys added insult to injury on Monday. But pressure now seems to be mounting on the Easter Road hierarchy to turn the tide with Johnson upset over squad resources and recent dire performances. And former Celtic hero Nicholas has laid in to the supremos in Leith for running the club like a ‘pantomime’ and says nothing has changed in his book since the misfire of Shaun Maloney as manager.

He said in his Scottish Daily Express column: “Hibs are a pantomime club. Shaun Maloney was trying to do the right thing but the people in charge bottled it and got rid of him when they should have seen it out.

“They are a club who are just not right. I hear people saying they are a big club. You are not. You are only a big club when you start to win football matches.

“I don’t know where they go from here and I feel for Lee Johnson because I don’t think he has a chance. Hibs are only as good as their players. If he is to rely on these players then I think Johnson could be done, it could be over. Johnson is right when he says he badly needs a clear-out but how much will that cost and how long will it take?”
