Brighton are set to table a £275,000 bid to try and beat Wolves and West Ham United to the signing of Kilmarnock youngster Charlie McArthur.
The 16-year-old has already made a handful of top-team appearances for Killie and is wanted by all three English Premier League clubs.
Brighton, who are also keen on Rangers youngster Rory Wilson, have been tracking the young central defender for some time and also watched him play for Scotland’s under-17s last week.
Seagulls technical directo r David Weir is now set to sanction a bid for McArthur.
Brighton know that Wolves and West Ham are both very much in the mix and want to clinch a quick deal.
It remains to be seen if the Rugby Park board take the money now or decide to bleed him into Derek McInnes’s first-team, as they push to get back to the Premiership.
The current deal would include a number of add-ons if he was to break into the Brighton first-team.
Brighton previously took Scotland under-21 cap Marc Leonard from Hearts back in 2018.
