Charlie Day wants It's Always Sunny co-star Danny DeVito to play Wario in the next Super Mario movie: "[He] would fit so well in this universe"

Danny DeVito in It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia .

Charlie Day thinks Danny DeVito would be a great Wario... and we are so here for it.

"Danny [DeVito] would fit so well in this universe, and he would be a good Wario, I think," Day told ScreenRant.

Day voices Luigi in The Super Mario Bros. Movie and The Super Mario Galaxy Movie (and we're still waiting on the live-action Luigi's Mansion movie, but I digress...) The comedian has been starring alongside DeVito in the sitcom It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia for some 21 years (and if you remember when the show first started, it's time to increase the font size on your phone), with DeVito playing Frank Reynolds, the father of Dennis (Glenn Howerton) and Dee (Kaitlin Olson). DeVito also very famously starred as The Penguin in Tim Burton's Batman Returns, as much less of a pseudo-sexy mafia man i.e Colin Farrell, and more of a tiny scary dude who waddles like a penguin and throws up black bile.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie introduced a new batch of beloved Nintendo characters, including Fox McCloud (Glen Powell), Princess Rosalina (voiced by Nintendo super-fan Brie Larson), and those impossibly cute Pikmin. It would make total sense for Wario to pop up in the third installment... and there is definitely going to be a third installment, given that the second one is on track for the biggest box office opening of the year so far.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is in theaters now. For more, check out our Super Mario Galaxy Movie review or dive into our Super Mario Galaxy Movie Easter eggs guide.
