Leeds United defender Charlie Cresswell starts for England under-21s against France in a friendly at Leicester City's King Power Stadium this evening, but his Elland Road teammate Illan Meslier has to settle for a place on the bench.
It was thought that the Leeds shot-stopper might be able to push for a spot in the senior squad for the first time in his career but national team manager Didier Deschamps opted for Brice Samba, Mike Maignan and Alphonse Areola instead and will be forced to watch on from the bench in the East Midlands, with Lucas Chevalier getting the nod.
Meanwhile, the 20-year-old centre-back, who has been on loan at Championship club Millwall all season, will get his ninth cap for the Young Lions this afternoon, having previously starred in their UEFA European Under-21 Championship Qualifying last season.

Cresswell has managed to impress on his loan at The Den, having scored five times in his 27 league appearances so far this season, having played all 90 minutes in 20 of those games.
The rest of the England starting XI consists of James Trafford in goal, with Cresswell lining up alongside Chelsea youngster Levi Colwill in between Max Aarons and Djed Spence.
In the midfield, Morgan Gibbs-White captains the side while slotting in next to Angel Gomes and Oliver Skipp while Cameron Archer, Harvey Elliott and Emile Smith-Rowe fill out the forwards.
