"Please deliver to his home address. Thank you. Somewhere in Dublin."

Charlie was quick to thank the post service for delivering the package to him despite the vague description.

He tweeted: "Thank you An Post. This just arrived for me today.

"Another example of the hand of friendship."

People were blown away by the kind gesture.

One person said: "It just shows that there is only one Charlie Bird."

Another wrote: "We are with you all the Charlie."

A third said: "You and dear Vicky both don't need addresses or surnames for postpeople to find you! You're in our hearts."

The former RTE reporter was diagnosed with motor neurone disease in October.

Charlie touched the hearts of the nation when he appeared on the Late Late Show last year and said he "cries everyday".

Climb with Charlie is taking place next month and will raise funds for Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association and Pieta House.

He said the first candle he lights when he gets to the top of Croagh Patrick will be for his "soulmate" Vicky Phelan.

Vicky planned to climb Croagh Patrick with Charlie on April 2, but no longer will be able to due to health issues.
