Charlie Bird has said he will light a candle for Vicky Phelan when he climbs Croagh Patrick - labelling the cancer campaigner as his "soulmate."
The lovely message comes after Vicky's devastating health update where she said she has "never been so sick" and "never in as much pain" following her latest bout of radiotherapy.
She and ex-RTE reporter Charlie have struck up a great friendship since their respective Late Late Show appearances, with the pair meeting up for scones and constantly keeping in touch via social media.
Vicky had initially planned to help out at the Climb with Charlie event in April, which will see him scale Croagh Patrick to raise funds for the Irish Motor Neurone's Association and Pieta House.
But in her update, Vicky revealed she wouldn't be able to do so.
Charlie took to Twitter on Tuesday morning to write: "So sad that Vicky Phelan won’t be able to wave me off on the 2nd April when I start to climb Croagh Patrick, she has told me she will be with me in spirit- Vicky you are in my thoughts every day. When I get to the top the first candle I light will be for you Vicky my soulmate ."
Charlie himself has been going through a battle in recent weeks.
He told the public that he doesn’t want to be ‘famous just for dying’ as he opened up about his struggle to eat as his health has deteriorated in recent weeks.
