Charlie Adam looks set to take over as Fleetwood manager in what would be his first managerial position.
The former Rangers and Dundee man is a heavy favourite to take on the role after ex-Hibs boss Lee Johnson left the club yesterday.
Johnson was appointed as Scott Brown’s successor in September and leaves with Fleetwood one place off the bottom of Sky Bet League One and without a win in nine games in all competitions.
“Fleetwood Town can confirm Lee Johnson has left the club with immediate effect,” read a club statement.
“Assistant manager Darren Way and first team coach Phil Jevons will also depart – everyone at the club would like to place on record our thanks to Lee, Darren and Phil for their hard work and professionalism during their time at the club.
“The club will issue a further update on the first-team staff in due course.”
Johnson, 42, had previously managed Oldham, Barnsley, Bristol City, Sunderland and Hibernian.
Now the Daily Record reports that Adam is the favourite for the position and could be announced as soon as today.
Adam has been working as a coach and loans manager at Premier League outfit Burnley, but he is now keen to become a manager in his own right.
