Charli Grant reckons Ange Postecoglou has done Australia proud at Tottenham Hotspur - and now the Matildas star aims to do the same after her "surreal" move to the north London club.
The 22-year-old defender, fresh from joining the growing ranks of Australian internationals in England's Women's Super League following her transfer from Swedish side Vittsjo GIK, explained how she was a huge fan of Spurs' men team's boss.
"For sure," she told the club's official website in an interview when asked if she had been following Postecoglou's magnificent progress as a Premier League manager.
"I think everyone back home in Australia is very proud of Ange and he's doing a great job at the club. It's nice to have an Aussie around."
Like Postecoglou, who's made a significant step up from the Scottish Premiership after a triumphant spell at Celtic, Grant has described her own move into a bigger league after three years of success in Sweden at Rosenborg and Vittsjo as a "dream come true".
She's been signed on a deal until 2026, ensuring it's not only the 'red half' of north London who will have Matildas to cheer with Arsenal boasting Grant's national teammates Steph Catley, Kyra Cooney-Cross and Caitlin Foord in their ranks.
Adelaide's 21-times capped Grant, who scored her first goal for Australia in their famous win over England at Brentford last April, is set to play her first match for Spurs in their FA Cup tie against Sheffield United on January 14.
"It was an incredible moment to score my first goal," said Grant, reflecting on that rain-soaked night of glory.
"Every time, you put on your national team jersey, it's a huge honour. It's something I have always dreamt of since I was a little girl and to score that goal was incredible."
Of her move to the WSL, she added: "It feels very surreal. It's definitely a dream come true and I'm excited to get started. What we are building here at the club is very special and something I wanted to be a part of."
Spurs are currently mid-table - sixth out of the 12 teams - in the WSL.
"As a team, we want to progress as far as we can, that has already been established in the first training session. For me, personally, I want to push for a starting spot in the team and help the team where I can to get those results," Grant explained.
