Tropical Storm Debby, currently churning in the Atlantic, is expected to make a turn back toward the U.S. coastline. In response to improving conditions, the city of Charleston, South Carolina, has decided to lift its curfew.

Following an assessment of overnight conditions, city officials have deemed it safe to resume normal activities. The announcement was made in a news release on Wednesday morning.

As of 7:30 am Wednesday, only one road in Charleston remained closed, marking a significant improvement from the previous days when the curfew was in effect since Monday night.

Mayor William Cogswell expressed gratitude for the community's cooperation and stated that while they will continue to monitor the situation as Tropical Storm Debby lingers nearby, the current focus is on returning to normalcy.

Both the Charleston police and fire departments reported that no rescues were necessary during the storm, indicating successful preparedness and response efforts.
