Charles Manson's 'grandson' sees inheritance hopes dashed as mystery man emerges

The man who claims to be Charles Manson's grandson has had his hopes of inheriting his killer's estate dashed after a mystery man emerged.

Jason Freeman, 46, self-proclaims to be the mass murderer's grandson and was hoping to take Charles Manson's estate but a new man has come forward and believes he is the killer's son.

Daniel Arguelles, 62, says he is the 'biological son' of Charles Manson after his mother reportedly had a one night stand with the killer back in 1959. He filed a last minute court petition on Friday.

Jason was pleading with Judge Ruben Garcia at a Los Angeles probate court hearing to declare him his grandson and give Charles Manson's entire estate to him, including artwork rights and music.

The 46-year-old had been hoping the judge would throw out the claim of one of his arrivals Michael Channels, who is a memorabilia collector.

Michael used to write to Manson in prison and claims he has a 2002 will which said he could have his belongings.

However, following a court petition filed by David Arguelles, the judge said he would continue Friday's hearing until October 20 - which will allow new details to emerge of David's claim.

The last minute petition has completely shocked and stunned the Charles Manson estate who up until an hour ago before filing the petition, didn't know who he was.

Alan Davis, counsel to the temporary administrator of the Manson estate, Dale Kiken, told The Mail after the hearing: "I have no idea who Daniel Arguelles is.

"I have never heard of him before and I have no clue as to what he bases this petition on. It's a mystery."

David is arguing in court that there is "clear and convincing evidence that he is the biological son" of Manson and he is "entitled to an equal share of Manson's estate."

According to court papers, Charles Manson was released from a 5-year stint in prison in September 1958 and hooked up with David's mother Darlene Large Pons.

The court document alleges: "Petitioner (Arguelles) alleges that on or around January 25, 1959, petitioner's mother and dependent (Manson) conceived petitioner in a one-night encounter."

David's mother, who died in 2020, told him his father was James Arguelles until 1981 when his "mother informed him that James Arguelles was not his father and that she did not know who his real father was."

In 2015, David tried to locate his biological father and sent off a DNA sample to Ancestry.com which showed a "close relative match" with Michael Brunner.

He was also one of the men who was competing for Charles Manson's estate in the long-running saga over who was entitled to his belongings.

The DNA results showed that David and Michael "have a 99.99998% probability that they share the same father" according to court documents.

However, with David's case claiming he's Michael's half-brother, just three years ago Michael asked the court to be dismissed from his court claim that he was related to Charles Manson.
