Charles Davis goes quarterback for the Commanders in his final mock draft

Charles Davis is one of the NFL’s best analysts. Whether he’s covering the draft, calling a game, talking about the draft in the studio, or making an appearance on local radio, Davis always gives excellent, balanced insight into the NFL.

Davis released his final mock draft ahead of the first round of the 2023 NFL draft Thursday and has five quarterbacks going in the first round.

  • No. 1: Alabama QB Bryce Young to Carolina
  • No. 4: Ohio State QB C.J. Stroud to Indianapolis
  • No. 11: Florida QB Anthony Richardson to Tennessee
  • No. 12: Kentucky QB Will Levis to Houston

The fifth quarterback is, of course, Hendon Hooker of the Tennessee Volunteers.

Where does Davis have Hooker landing?

At No. 16 overall to the Washington Commanders:

New ownership(?), a fresh sense of direction and a bold selection! The fastest rising QB in the 2023 draft finds his new home in D.C.

We know the Commanders like Hooker. They had him in for a visit, and offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy attended his pro day. How much does Washington like him? It still seems doubtful the Commanders would take a quarterback in the first round. But the talk of Hooker landing in the second round seems like old news now.

Would Washington be the team that takes a chance on Hooker?

It remains doubtful, but no one really knows anyone’s plans.
