Charles Barkley has never shied from being critical of the Golden State Warriors. It didn’t take long for the Hall of Famer turned broadcaster to take aim at the Warriors in the opening night edition of the NBA on TNT.
Barkley labeled the Warriors the fourth-best team in the state of California, behind the Sacramento Kings, Los Angeles Lakers and the Los Angeles Clippers.
Barkley said he doesn’t like Golden State’s team going forward, calling them old.
The Warriors are the fourth-best team in California in my opinion. Old people don’t get better; they just get older. I just don’t like their team going forward. They’ve had a great run. Great organization. The Lakers, Sacramento and the Clippers are all better than the Warriors.

Entering the 2023-24 season, the Warriors will lean on a heavy veteran rotation built around Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green and new addition Chris Paul. The Warriors acquired the 38-year-old point guard in a blockbuster trade with the Washington Wizards headlined by 24-year-old Jordan Poole.
The Warriors are the fourth oldest team in the NBA with an average age of 28.5 years old. Six members of the Warriors are age 30 or older. The Clippers are the oldest team in the NBA, with an average age of 29.1 years old.
The Warriors test their new rotation on Tuesday night against the Phoenix Suns. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. PT.
