A Stirling charity is set to be handed a cash boost thanks to a charitable donation from Stirling Albion stalwart Ross McGeachie.
The Binos star is this year marking a decade of playing for the Albion first team. McGeachie has been rewarded for his loyalty to the Forthbank outfit with a testimonial season.
As part of the testimonial McGeachie has selected a local charity to benefit from the occasion and he has chosen PLUS – an organisation which provides services and activities for young people with disabilities.
The 29-year-old joined the Binos at the age of just 12 and worked his way through the ranks before finally being promoted to the first team in 2013.
He has gone on to make 303 appearances – making him the eighth highest in the club’s history.
The fans’ favourite chose to include PLUS as part of the testimonial - so funds raised throughout the season will be go to the group.

A committee has been set up to organise the series of events that make up the testimonial. Committee member Tricia Chillas said: “The biggest challenge is yet to come. He has selected three young disabled Stirling Albion Supporters as ambassadors for his ‘Go Fund Me Campaign’ and set them the 5:2 Challenge. Scott McKenzie has to complete five miles around Loch Katrine in his terrain hopper in two hours. Lara Clydesdale must complete 10 laps of the Perimeter of Kings Park Football pitches in two hours in her Powerchair. Lara and Scott have Cerebral Palsy. Jack Robertson, who has late J Global Development, has to walk five miles around Kings Park pitches within two hours. They are all delighted to be part of #TEAMROSS.”
The event will be held at Kings Park on Sunday, March 5, from 1-3pm. To donate, go to the GoFundMe page and support the young ambassadors to raise money for the respective charities. All monies raised will be equally split between Plus and the RAM Testimonial Fund at Ross’s request.
