Charity bids to install an additional 45 public defibrillators across Falkirk

A charity is hoping to increase the number of Public Access Defibrillators across Falkirk.

Friends of Forth Valley First Responders say it's their mission to have an additional 45 of the life-saving machines installed - that would mean 5 in each council ward.

But this all comes at a cost of around £70,000 and they need your help.

The team attend 999 emergency calls before an Ambulance arrives and they are able to provide basic life-saving first aid.

Aaron Smith, Chairman on the Friends of Forth Valley First Responders, said: "For every minute that passes whilst someone's in cardiac arrest without receiving CPR and having a defibrillator used on them, their chance of survival decreases by 10%.

"That's why it's so important to act immediately.

"These pieces of kit really can make the difference between life and death and require absolutely no training to use.

"Please help us save lives."

You can make this happen by voting for them in the Falkirk Council Community Choices Awards scheme.
