Chaos as Elizabeth line part suspended in rush hour after signal failure at Liverpool Street

Travel chaos ensued on the Tube this morning, with a signal failure at Liverpool Street suspending a huge stretch of the Elizabeth line.

As of 8am, there was no service between Whitechapel and Stratford, and severe delays on the rest of the line while TfL worked to fix the issue.

All trains between Liverpool Street and Paddington are being cancelled or heavily delayed, affecting all routes between Shenfield and Paddington, between Stratford / Gidea Park and Heathrow Terminal 4, and between Abbey Wood and Maidenhead / Heathrow Terminal 5.

The disruption is expected to go on throughout the morning.

Tickets are being accepted via any reasonable route on the Underground, Great Western Railway, and Greater Anglia services, as well as on London Buses.

Meanwhile, a faulty train at Bromley-by-Bow is causing severe delays on both the District and Hammersmith & City lines.
